Winds of Change

Winds of Change (2022)

‘Winds of Change’ embraces the ideas of entrepreneurship and innovation, with the sculptural form capturing a momentum of being blown and rippled. It is seemingly driven by an unseen force which makes visible the new energy and aspirations for the Lot 14 site. The reflective surfaces distort and re-imaging the surrounding buildings, people and place, bringing about pause and contemplation. Playing with the reflected light and the immediate environment brings attention to the different ways we perceive and observe, in turn, determining how we build and assemble our world.

Using the stairwell as an anchor to the site, the form visually draws viewers into the void between buildings through the use of colour and the reflectivity with sight lines providing a focus point and an attractor into the site from many vantage points. The blue colouring also acknowledges the digital world of connectivity, pairing with people and place.
